My name is Mompati Shabane, I am serving with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in Liberia as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.

I am originally from Botswana and joined MAF in 2024.

In my role, I am responsible for maintaining the MAF aircraft fleet operating in Liberia and Guinea, ensuring that each aircraft is serviceable, airworthy, and available to support our partners and serve those in isolated and hard-to-access areas of Guinea and Liberia.

This involves carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to the highest aviation standards.

Although I spent most of my aviation career in commercial aviation, I always carried a quiet conviction that one day I would serve in aviation missions. This was shaped early on by my background in mission aviation, having completed my first basic aviation maintenance training with Flying Mission Services, where I was introduced to aviation as a tool for mission and service.

In God’s perfect timing, and at a pivotal moment in my career, He opened a door through a MAF South Africa Facebook post with a unique invitation to an opportunity to combine my engineering skills with my heart for missions. It was, without a doubt, a calling tailor-made for me.

I am a firm believer in God, His love, foreknowledge, predestination, higher calling and purpose in Christ. And that life/living is in coming to the knowledge of Him (God) and His purpose for our individual lives in Christ.
