Legacy Giving
Large or small, a gift to MAF in your will can save many lives.
Imagine the difference you’ll make
Large or small, a gift to MAF in your will can save many lives. A single legacy can cover fuel for an emergency flight, provide life-saving medical equipment, or even help educate a child. Whatever the amount, your legacy will make a lasting difference. Everyone’s Legacy is Powerful.
What about giving through Securities?
The only difference between leaving a Gift to MAF in your will and giving through securities is in the description. Giving through your securities comes in many different forms. This could be the residual of your estate, giving an asset to MAF (property, vehicles) or your securities. Securities could include the residual of your retirement package, any investments or dividends of investments and life policy payouts.
Why and How do I draft a will?
Making a will is an important matter that many overlook. No one likes to think about death and therefore do not consider what will become of their possessions after they are gone.
Many think that they are too young to make a will but a will brings peace of mind, fewer liabilities and allows you to be a good steward of the gifts the Lord has given you.
In a few simple steps…
Changing your will is simpler than you might think.
If you’d like to add a specific gift to MAF to your will just follow these steps:
Download and Complete the Form Below. Download a simple statement (called a Codicil) and fill it out. Please note the specific gift from your Securities that you would like to leave us.
Add the Codicil to your Will. Once filled out, simply add the form to the end of your will – don’t worry, it’s just an addition and won’t change what’s already in there. Feel free to consult your Attourney or Executor about this step.
Let us know. Please fill in the online form at the bottom of this webpage if you have added us to your will or if you would like to do so.
And voila, that’s it! You have left a lasting legacy with MAF.
Everyone’s Legacy is Powerful!
Gordon Marshall never had a desire to become a missionary; instead he followed his dream to become a fighter pilot for the South African Air Force. After serving with the SAAF for many years, God directed him to his calling – to leave a lasting legacy by serving with MAF.
After seeing refugees trailing through the snow with few possessions and no shoes, Gordon realised that he wanted his life to count for something more. Almost immediately after praying about this new calling God was placing on his heart, Steve Stevens contacted him two months later to take his position as a missionary pilot at MAF Sudan. Suddenly his life changed and soon he was flying missionaries, doctors, nurses and provisions to remote areas in Sudan, and later to Kenya and Zimbabwe.
How it all began
It was in Sudan that he met a fellow missionary, Jean, who later came to be his wife. After thirty years of racking up over 10 500 flying hours Gordon retired from active flying, but God wasn’t done with him yet. A new chapter began for the Marshall family, including their four children, when they moved to South Africa and Gordon became the director of MAF South Africa.
It’s difficult to convey the extent of the work this one man completed during his forty-one years of service, or the souls that received the gospel as the result of his faithfulness, but we can tell from the way people remember him that he made an impact on many lives. He went to be with the Lord in June 2004 at the age of seventy-six, but his legacy lives on. We all wonder how we will be remembered after we have passed on. God can use you to save the lost, wherever you may be.
