How do you hear about God if there is no Bible, no believer – let alone church – in your community, and no mission team, the body of Christ, reaching out to you? This is the reality for many living in isolated communities in eastern Chad. That’s why Pastor Justin has committed his life to serving the unreached people of his own country.
Three years ago, six groups of unengaged, unreached people living in the Goz Beida region of Eastern Chad, were ‘adopted’ by Pastor Justin’s organisation – a total of 40, 000 individuals. Having trained Chadian missionaries to reach the unreached, he has been able to send two families to live in in communities where they build relationships with their neighbours and run Discovery Bible Courses. Referring to Matthew 24: 14, Pastor Justin says, ‘The Greek phrase for “all nations” is “panta ta ethne” which refers to all of the ethnicities or people groups of the world. We believe that Jesus was very clear in stating that His gospel would be preached to all nations/ ethne/ people groups before He would return. Therefore , our major goal is to assist in the preaching of the Good News to every people group in order to fulfil the words of Christ!’
Pastor Justin visits Eastern Chad regularly from the capital, Ndjamena. His most recent trip was to begin to build relationships with groups not yet reached. Under a tree in the village, Pastor Justin was introduced to great chief of Runga. ‘When I shared with him our vision to send missionaries among their people to work with them, he was very happy. At that time, he took his phone and called every chief of village to receive our team and they did.’ Pastor Justin went on to visit four villages where he met with leaders. Each time he prayed with them and declared blessing upon their land. Pastor Justin sees the land as an opportunity to serve these communities. ‘One thing we know about these people, they are living in a land that looks green and fertile to grow food and yet they are so poor because they use wrong methods to farm.’ He explains that there are people who can teach them to farm in a way that is more productive and sustainable. ‘A fruitful trip,’ Pastor Justin adds, with the hope that both the land and the gospel message will bear good fruit too, in time.
Captain Becki, a MAF pilot based in N’Djamena, smiles as she talks about the privilege it is to fly Pastor Justin and his team. ‘He is Chadian, sending Chadian missionaries, to serve the people of Chad.’
