Loads of entertainment was had by the kids who had their faces painted, jumped on the jumping castle and played with balloon animals. They also got to watch a puppet show with our friends Boris, Katie and Maffy, who explained why MAF uses airplanes to help poor people in isolated regions.
Many of our planes were on display including Esther our Cessna 208 Caravan and a Waco biplane similar to the one Betty Greene flew to Mexico for MAF back in 1946.
Our pilots were on hand to answer any questions like “what does that button do?” And for anyone who wanted to try their hand at flying, there were model airplanes for sale and flight simulators available.
It was a very exciting experience for them to fly out over Hartebeespoort in a small aircraft. For many it was the first time they had ever been on an airplane. Even the children who were not fortunate enough to fly with Maffy received a special treat in the form of a sweet drop from a model helicopter.
Thank you so much to all involved and to all who attended. We’ll see you again next year.
