“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ― Nelson Mandela
Last Mandela Day Standard Bank’s Transformation Team raised funds towards the building of the Gondeni crèche, which was completed just in time for this year’s Mandela Day. Five Standard Bank staff members and a new volunteer joined the MAF team as they flew into Limpopo to paint the crèche and see the fruits of their donations. Pastor Francois Strydom from Shammah Ministries in Louis Trichardt, his wife and two members of his church also assisted us on the day.
“For me the experience was an eye opener more than anything else. It reminded me of the social responsibility that each and every one of us still has in trying to reach out to the most marginalised and desperate communities in our country.” Sydney Maduna.
“1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ. For me, the visit to Limpopo meant being aware of common blessings, health, freedom, and the ability to get into the car and go somewhere. I was praying and asking God to use me to make a difference in this world. I thank Flying for Life for making this possible by allowing me to go with them to Gondeni, Limpopo.” Maud Takalani.
We were also able to send four medical staff to Donald Fraser Hospital, as part of Mandela Day, on Saturday 19 July to preform 17 cataract surgeries. Two missionaries accompanied us to hand out Bibles and pray for people.
One man, whose mother was receiving eye surgery, gave his life to Christ!
