Previously, we told you about the Shandukani Crèche and the teacher who was trying to educate 23 children in a dark derelict building with broken windows, holes in the ceiling and almost no educational resources. In order to address this need, we revamped their dilapidated building, painted the walls and provided the teacher with educational supplies. This, however, was just one of a number of crèches or ECD centres in the area.
In April, with the help of a corporate sponsor, we were able to provide this school with two jungle gyms. By giving children access to playground equipment, we have given them the chance to learn while playing. Such activity develops gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance, improved muscle tone, and stimulates blood flow which improves concentration …and it’s fun! This all works to encourage cognitive development.
We honour you Lesley and family.
