Much of what Pioneers do worldwide is confidential in order to protect the ministry. Their core values reflect the passions, practices and personality of its members, some of which we get to fly. This passion drives Pioneers to plant churches in the world’s most challenging environments. God has truly blessed Pioneers since its founding more than 35 years ago.
Today they have 2,985 international members serving on 289 teams in 103 countries among 205 unreached people groups. Pioneers partner with more than 2,000 churches to send these missionaries to least-reached peoples. It is an honour for MAF to participate in flying Pioneers to where they need to go. On this particular flight they were flying up a lot of food supplies for an area that hasn't received rain for 3 months.
Pilot Dallas Derksen explained, “The team were extremely grateful that we were able to haul up all of their cargo – including a lot of food. We put some of it in FRM, and that’s why you see FRM coming in to land over SCO in the pictures below. The missionaries on the ground there did mention that they had their first rain in about 3 months the day before. They were close to a water emergency, but the deluge that same week filled up all of their water tanks to the brim.”
