A 59 year old woman from the nearby Tshitereke Village came in for surgery on Saturday. She works as a cleaner inside Donald Fraser, and was going blind, she was seeing smoke instead of clear images. She said that she is so grateful for the access to the eye clinic and that she received eye surgery. She was especially happy about the good treatment from the doctors and nurses – and that she can see again.
A dear old lady who travelled to many hospitals in Vhembe District without receiving any assistance. She was happy that she found the help she needed at DFH through our project. She said thank you over and over again just to express her joy and gratitude.
He doesn’t know how old he is, as he received no formal education. He had been to DFH twice before and turned back as his eyes needed complicated surgery, that could only be provided by Professor Polla Roux. There was great relief when Prof Roux arrived at the clinic later in the afternoon after having told the patient that he would have to return home once again and his surgery would not happen as Prof Roux was running late.
